You are clear...I hugged him and just cried...I did my little jig and had group hugs with everybody.... I would like to thank all who listened to me whine and carry on and for the support everyone has been so good now it is just the healing...Slow going have an infection got all stitches out today... I am starting to get feeling back which is a good thing but it hurts alot...but I am going to get better next appointment is in six weeks... Gosh this is such a good feeling and I am so relieved I really admire those who had a bigger fight with cancer because I know what it has taken to get this far... Anyway will post more later have been up since 7 am to go to dr appointment and then home and few errands am beat....talk to you all later...have a great day

History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma. 14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad. 6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012. bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia 24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

Donna,69, SCC L Tongue T2N1MO Stg IV 4/04 w/partial gloss;32 radtx; T2N2M0 Stg IV; R tongue-2nd partial gloss w/graft 10/07; 30 radtx/2 cispl 2/08. 3rd Oral Cancer surgery 1/22 - Stage 1. 2022 surgery eliminated swallowing and bottom left jaw. Now a “Tubie for Life”.no food envy - Thank God! Surviving isn't easy!!!! .Proudly Canadian - YES, UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE IS WONDERFUL! (Not perfect but definitely WONDERFUL)

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

cg to husband, 48 Stage 1V head and neck SCC. First surgery 9/07. Radiation and several rounds of chemo followed. Mets to chest and lungs. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." Went home to God on February 22, 2009.

I don't know what to say but thanks....such great sense of humour and caring...Now that the healing process has begun I am sure I will still be needing help...but hopefuly my experience can help someone else through this ordeal...talk to you soon gonna go rest still tired and sore but every day is stronger...
next step to look forward to is getting my teeth back!!!

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April. --- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here

| | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 531 "Above & Beyond" Member (500+ posts) | OP "Above & Beyond" Member (500+ posts) Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 531 | I don't understand though my doctor kept asking me if I am sure I had quit smoking and I assured him I had and I have ...he was confused that the incision looking like I have had radiation but then he thought when I had quit just before surgery and that I am a diabetic...I really haven't smoked...that would hurt and be counter productive...I am keeping up with the one day at a time thing...still every day is one step away from...but anyway I am praying that my recovery keeps going...in a forward direction...
