Since this was discussed recently about how much was raised at Stand Up, I though I would get some of the most current numbers for all of you. Just so there is some perspective on how much money is spent EACH YEAR on cancer research in the US ALONE, in 2006 the number was $206.3 billion. A major portion of this is your tax dollars via the NIH/NCI, followed by private funding. I can't begin to tell you what a miniscule part of that had to do with head and neck cancers. I haven't calculated it, but the number (as a percentage of total) I can guarantee you, BEGINS with a decimal point and has at lest three digits in it, the first being a zero.....

So it's Wednesday and I jsut buzzed through my TIVO recording of GMA and it wasn't there. This is TV and it reminds me of exactly what I went through waiting 4 months to see my TV interview get aired. I was told over and over again that it would be on next week or the following week etc. etc.

It will surely be bumped again tomorrow when GMA takes on the "Lipstick War".

What sells commercials? Oral Cancer or political fluff?

I never used to be so cynical!!!!

Brian, I came across this topic and I'm hoping you will send me a personal email (I emailed you personally over the weekend). I previously gave to Stand Up to Cancer thinking it was an excellent cause and then I found your site. My husband is newly diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer stage 4A and I want to donate a percentage of our cancer insurance proceeds. I would like to know how you determine where your donations are distributed. Thanks!
