Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 598 | My dry mouth has been particularly bad for the past few days. A bit of a burning sensation, both around the mouth and eyes as well. Anyone else experience this?

SCC(T2N0M0) part.glossectomy & neck dissect 2/9/05 & 2/25/05.33 IMRT(66 Gy),2 Cisplatin ended 06/03/05.Stage I breast cancer treated 2/05-11/05.Surgery to remove esophageal stricture 07/06, still having dilatations to keep esophagus open.Dysphagia. "When you're going through hell, keep going"

Bill . . . SCC - originated in right tonsil, drifted into neck ( 28 lymph nodes removed - one positive ). Radical neck dissection in September 07, completed 34 radiation tx on January 4, 2008. Used Peg. Non smoker, 61, good shape, no previous health issues. Second year PET scan - "all clear".

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | Got you covered Jeff old buddy. Only I think I bring it on by overdoing . This morning, I painted the outside of my basement blocks and then mowed grass. I was burning and as dry as popcorm without butter.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

They loaded me up with several boxes of samples of Systane. Makes a huge difference!

Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 598 | Thanks for the input, everyone. As Brian often says -- radiation is the gift that keeps on giving. But except for that, and the shoulder\neck issues from the ND, I am a very lucky person so far.
As always, I appreciate the support. For all of our US members, Happy 4th!! We have a huge fireworks display in Columbus tonight, then our local parade & fireworks tomorrow, sandwiched around a golf tournament for the wife and I. Saturday we are having 30 people over for a barbeque. Sunday we will be packing up our son, as Monday he flies off to Russia to study for a month. Busy times!

Joined: May 2002 Posts: 2,152 | Dry eyes is another result of radiation? I never knew that but kinda suspected it. I haven't been able to cry even at my father's funeral since I had rads. I think I have managed one tear out of one eye in the last 11 years and I used to cry 'at the drop of a hat'. Otherwise they don't bother me.
