As an avid NASCAR fan, I just tuned in to the Craftsman Nascar Truck race a few minutes ago and was astounded when they announced that one of the drivers, Bobby Hamilton, has head and neck cancer. Tonight is his last race while he undergoes treatment starting Monday at Vanderbilt. He looked so scared and lost while he answered questions at a press conference, I wish he could find this board to help him. He said that he was going to concentrate on his treatments and wanted to use what celebrity he had to promote awareness of this disease. One thing I do know is how huge the NASCAR fan base is. He said he had an infected wisdom tooth removed in November but the swelling in his neck never went down. Just wanted to let everyone know about him.

Put your thinking cap on and find me some contacts to call. I'll get on the phone if you can help me chase down the numbers. Every time we can get close to a celebrity, perhaps one that we help through the foundation is another addition to the group of allies who down the road help us spread the word. Besides being a celebrity he is someone who, like so many of us, is scared right now, and perhaps we can aliviate some of that.

I will look again plus see if I can find a link to his sponsor. The team website is bobbyhamiltonracing.com if someone wants to see if they can find a link - I could have missed it.

I e-mailed the team and told all about OCF - I hope it gets passed on. The website does show his sponsors - he has several teams with different sponsors.

He has Ricky Rudd, from our area, trying to get us in touch with Mr. Hamilton. I'll let you know if we can make it happen. He could be a help to the foundation, and we could be a help to him.

I will try something else...From what I read on Nascar.com, he wants to take time off to have radiation and help out in some way with cancer...Carol
