Minnie,
For what it is worth, people are getting neck dissections all the time after radiation these days so don't worry about that. I had not only that but a total laryngectony on radiated tissue without problems. You need a good surgeon but that shouldn't be a problem where you are being treated. Here's hoping you don't need more surgery. Good luck tomorrow.

Take care,
Eileen

Minnie,

Wishing and praying for good things to come from you visit tomorrow to the doctor. I have a dear friend who has had cancer several times and has had those type of reports and once the doctor had studied them it turned out to be scar tissue etc... I pray for you all to be able to rest tonight. You are such an inspiration to me with your determination to keep on living life to the fullest! What a positive attitude!

Your Virginia friend,
Cindy

Minnie,

My mom has similar things happen with scar tissue and tightening of her skin etc. Her face sometimes gets red and feels hot but it goes away and comes back. I know you both have had similar surgeries etc. Remember she had the surgery after she had been radiated and everything healed up over time. Her leg where they took the bone and skin graph took over a year to heal and the scab to clear up. She even went to a special wound doctor because it took so long to heal.

Her doctor has finally stopped the PET scans as there were always questionable areas showing up on them and it was always inconclusive even when she would get the CT it would show areas of concern and her ENT would look at them and he would not be able to determine much. Ususally they just looked at the prior scan to see if anything had changed.

I am sending you huge hugs and prayers. You are in my thoughts.

Love,
Dani

Hi Everone,

I can always count on this board to come out in droves when I need some inspiration! I haven't posted much lately because I've been busy and because I just needed a break............but I'm back and need your support again.

My doctors appointment went pretty well, I really love Dr. Koch, he's takes the time to sit and talk to me and never makes me feel like a "patient". And he gives it to me straight, which is how I like it. He feels I have a new cancer on my thyroid, one that is not related to my previous cancers............go figure. God must think I'm one strong person! This would explain my voice being so raspy and weak for the past 10 days or so, we thought I had a lingering cold. He also feels the node he's been watching since Oct. needs to come out. So, I'm having a CT scan with contrast done on Tuesday to get more difinitive sizes, locations, etc. and then he'll make a game plan. Looks like surgery for both areas. I just pray that I heal well after the surgeries, I have so much going on right now. I don't want to walk around looking like frankenstein. My daughters prom is the 25th and I'm pretty sure nothing will be scheduled before that. Last softball game is May 1st, so I won't have to miss to much. My girls school gets out end of May so the timing is good.

Thanks to all of you for writing, it always makes me feel stronger.

Love to all,
Minnie
