Hi EzJim, YAY! Congratulations on getting out of the hospital!! You must be a very strong, determined human--and one with a great sense of humor, it sounds like! Because I've just joined the forums, I haven't ever talked with you before. By reading the many posts, I can feel your very special place in everyone's hearts! I am really truly delighted for you and look forward to hearing more good news of your journey through recovery. God bless you and keep you -- keep on keeping us all! Non-smoker non-drinker, 50 when diagnosed 9/11/06 stage IV scc of oropharnyx, malignant lymph nodes both sides of neck. Cause=HPV16. Daily chemo & daily IMRT for 7 weeks. In 2 clinical trials at Johns Hopkins, good results. Peg tube out March 07. Update September 2014: gratefully in good health!

CG to Father, 75 yo with SCC of the mouth; upper maxillectomy and neck diss. performed on 5/23/07. Father also suffered heart attack during surgery and now has CHF. RT complete on 8/28/07. Cancer back 11/27/07. RT and Chemo to start on 12/17. Cancer back 6/17/08. Finally at rest 08/08/08.

They say you cant keep an good man down Jim,so you must have been very very good lol.This time last year you and Barb were fighting in Robins corner for his recovery,now its my turn to fight in yours,and you have the extra gift of Robin,Petey Brenda and many others fighting for you on a wider plane.

Husband Robin aged 44 years Dx 8th Dec 2006 poorly differentiated SCC tongue with met to neck T1N2cM0 Surgery and Radiation.Finished TX April 2007
Recurrence June/07 died July 29th/07.

Dx 5/18/07 SCC, BOT, lymph node involvement. T1N2BM0. (Stage 4a, G2/3)
Tx 6/18 - 8/3/07, IMRT x 33 Cisplatin x3 (stopped after 1st dose due to hearing issues). Weekly Erbitux started 6/27/07 completed 8/6/07.

OK all, I lied. LOL I drove home from my daughters last nite and had the best sleep I've had for days. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and best wishes,. David,, you weren't supposed to tel them I was still here spying LOL... And yes Jeff, there is some missinfo here. LOL BarbT and my daughter stuck with me like glue. I couldn't be more proud of either of them. Watch out for me and work too. THey must be tougher then I AM!!!!


Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Welcome back. Do you really think anyone is tougher than you? Your caretakers were "agents" for all of us who were praying so hard for your recovery. Stay well.

SCC stage II Partial mandibulectomy w. neck dissection- July 2005. Renal cancer w. partial nephrectomy-Jan 2004. Breast cancer discovered in routine mammogram. Successful lumpectomy, sentinal nodes clear, RT only-2008 Reconstruction of mandible w fibula free flap-Jan 09. TORS removal of begnin pappiloma from esophagus-2010. Masectomy,rt breast 2013.
