It's going to take quite a few months to heal a little better , I am sure of this after going thru it with both of my parents. My dads death was very sudden and unexpected. it was tough on everybody

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
--- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here

H,
The grief will change over time. The shock of the first few days has given way and you are now beginning to return to daily life with it's routines. Loosing some one we love is as physically real as loosing an arm and is as hurtful as it is in our heart and soul. Like a physical wound there will be stages of healing but the loss will always be there. You will slowly adapt to life without your mother because this lessening of emotional and physical pain is essential to our lives. No one can live with the intensity of the early grief. There will always be flareups and even forgetting that the person isn't there. I remember bumping into someone I hadn't seen in about 20 years and thinking that I would have to call my Mom when I got home to tell her. Then I realized that Mom had been gone from this Earth for 12 years.
In an earlier post you said that you hope to someday make a difference and help others. You are honoring your mother by the support you have begun to give to others. This is as important as any financial donation, research protect, fundraiser.

I was saddened to read your post. I am very sorry for your loss. Try to remember the good times before she was sick. You were a great son to your mother.
