This extends to claims made by individuals in health food stores. GNC (for example) has received numerous warning letters.
"Honest" and "politician" in the same sentence - whew!
There are some doctors on board with this also. Read carefully the Quackwatch link on alternative cures for cancer.
Disclaimer: We are not against adjunctive treatments per se but when they are used in lieu of legitimate medical care, then you must exercise great caution. There have been more than a few who tried alternative treatments first, only to find out that by the time they figured out it didn't work, their cancer was too advanced to cure by traditional medicine. If you have a bottomless pit of money and wish to persue Poly MVA or any of the myriad of known quack treatments, laetrile, etc., then go for it. Just don't forgo legitimate and proven medical care - even if it isn't the easy way out.

She was the mother of my wife's best friend. I talked to her and her 2 daughters till I was blue in the face. She was told she needed a ND and concurrent chemo/rad by Moffitt. She opted out going to the Bahamas for a miracle cure that cost her over $25,000, not including travel and lodging and avoided the surgery, chemo and rad. I found the quack on the internet (can't remember his name now) and he was barred from practicing in the UK, his homeland, and most other countries including the U.S. I believe he once also practiced in Germany.
She came home to be with her family in October and died in November. What a waste.

How frustrating and amazingly sad when we both know how much help she would have gotten by following Moffitt's treatment plan. This is not to say that she would not have succumbed at some point to her cancer but I dare say that she would have lived a much longer and relatively better life than she did. What was your wife's BF's position?? Did she disagree with her mothers decision?? Deb

She was the one that got me involved to try and talk some sense into her stubborn Mom. Her sister lived across state and became almost neutral which disturbed both of us. Nobody could guarantee a cure but at least with Moffitt she had a fighting chance.
