I had to LOL when you said you were not so sure the local was worth it. LOL
I was dining out at a Greek restaurant in NYC and the restrooms were downstairs. I opened the door and ran horizontially down the stairs into the wall.
I got up and everyone was looking down at me.
I looked myself over and thought all was fine. I said wow, I didn't even get hurt.
Then my brother said look at your pinky finger. The pinky was pointing left, the three others were pointing straight ahead, and the thumb was pointing to the right.
St. Vincent's was a block away so we walked to the emergency room.
The doctor said he could "just snap-it into place

Joined: May 2007 Posts: 666 | Mine is gone too. I also had the one with the stopper at the end.. (same type as peace4uall described). They just ripped it out... I did not get anything but was told if he did this at the hospital he would provide sedation. I had quite a bit of oxycodone left, and after reading the PEG stories I took a half dose of that. With this is was tolerable a quick sharp pain, by the time you try to figure what hurts it is pretty much gone...
All in all considering everything else a non event.

hubby is just a bit uncomfortable but nothing he can't handle. WE are so gratful for this day.

Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 294 | Keep him away from any carbonated soft drinks. I found out the hard way later in the day after mine was removed. Drank some soda with lunch that day and stomach began to leak at PEG removal site.

Like Bill says, stay away from carbonated drinks for a bit.
