Mu husband used pure aloe from the plant to rub on his neck every day after treatment. It really helped. His neck looked like a piece of worn leather. Fiery red and tight, The Aloe really helped. His skin peeled like a severe sunburn. The new skin was really good. It also helped on the incision site too. NOw after 12wks since his rad. you would never know by looking at his skin what he has been through. I wanted him to also drink the aloe juice but I couldn't get him to try it. Glad it worked for you. This is a slow process. Good luck to you both. LJ

I am about 2 months or so out of rad and chemo treatments but only 2 weeks out of radical neck disection surgery. I am tired all of the time and cant figure out why. Is this normal? Can someone tell me please. All I want to do is sleep. I go to bed tired and wake up tired.

Billy, I think you are in a normal progression, but you could ask to have your thyroid checked if that hasn't been done lately. You might also consider taking Centrum Silver vitamins [not just for Seniors only] if you are not taking a good vitamin suppliment. As an old cowboy friend of mine used to say "You've been rode hard and put away wet", you need to go slow for awhile. Amy in the Ozarks

Hi Amy,

Actually they just did bloodwork on me to check the thyriod among other things. It all came back negative which is a good thing. I know I have been through the ringer but Im just not used to having to sleep all the time like I am doing. I even get up and try to force myself to stay up but it isnt working...LOL

I slept alot while on the morphine, after I came off of that I didn't sleep nearly as much. That is something that was tough for me, as tough as the chemo. Withdrawls from the oral morphine caused naseau as bad as my chemo so be prepared for that too. Joylight I agree with many of the other posters, your boss is quite hopeful, but very unrealistic. I finished my treatments on March 22 and am now contemplating returning to work at the end of this month. I started going to the gym 2 weeks post tx and it has taken this long to get the stamina and strength that I will need for my job. My job is very physical but just the stamina to go 40+ hours a week has taken awhile to rebuild. I lost a total of 45lbs, more muscle than fat unfortunatley. One thing that seems to help is when the patient allows their body time to heal. Other friends and aquaintences of mine who have fought cancer of this type or others who try to be superman have found themselves sick with flues and colds that kept them down for over a year so I vowed to allow my body the time it needs to heal. It seems to be working well. Good luck, Lee
