I am wondering if anyone has had issues with low hemoglobin long after their treatment has ended. My husband completed radiation November 22 and stopped chemo in the first week of October. His chemo had to be stopped early because he had such bad side effects. Since his treatment has ended he has to go in just about every 2 weeks to get blood as his hemoglobin goes down to about 7.8. The docotors are at a loss for what could be wrong. He did have chemo 20 years ago when he was 12 so they think it could have something to do with that. Now they have done a bone barrow test and we are waiting to hear the results of that. Does anyone have experience with low hemoglobin after treatment?
Thanks,
Heidi

hi Yes my husband had low hemoglobin for two years post treatment and they could never find a good reason other than he had radiation for prostate also. He took an iron supplement and it went from 8 to 12 over time. He also had to have one transfusion but that didn't improve the count it eventually went lower. I think the iron was what helped him.
