I'm 3 weeks post radiation( 30 IMRT) and 4 months post surgery ( madibular resection 40%, jaw rebuilt with fibula, free flap donation from forearm for inside of the mouth, neck and shoulder disection 56 nodes)

The past week or so I have been experiencing increasing episodes of pain in the opposite side of my mouth ( the right hand hinge point). They come on very suddenly, and are very intense. Occassionally the pain eases with a bit of rotation of my jaw, or opening and closing my mouth slowly, but it's really painful. Anyone else experience anything like this?

Hopefully your Doc has helped you with your jaw problem by now.

Wayne, can't give you advice, but can offer sympathy. This happens to John alot also, especially if he coughs, sneezes or opens his mouth a certain way. He'll press hard on the spaiful spot and it will subside pretty quickly. He has a fair amount of facial swelling due to lack of drainage[ missing lymph nodes] I think that, plus the left over effects of rad tx. exacerbate the jaw pain. Try to be very careful about how you open your mouth or turn your head. Amy
