Has anyone else had lymphoedema on their face? My cheek and up to my eye are still swollen, after trying anti-biotics, anti-histamines, CT scan (which showed "non-enlarged cervical nodes"). I haven't contacted a massage person as yet.
From what I have been researching on the net, this is not that common.
Cheers!
Tizz

I have been treated,(with facial massage) but it seems to be only temporary help to the situation. Sorry I cannot be of more help to you. Carol p.s. I also had lazer done every 8 weeks for about a year. It helped with the redness and a little with the puffiness.

Please excuse my ignorance, (as I have had to find my own way around this cancer crap, since diagnosis...many many thanks to the OCF members, and "aussie h"!), what exactly is the laser treatment Carol?
"WZ": Oh no, don't depress me....joking of course! This swelling turned up after 14 months since the end of radio, that's why I was puzzled. My Onc/surgeon thought I may have sinusitus, and suggested I have a CT scan....I'm still a little concerned myself about the "non-enlarged cervical nodes", but what the heck, I'm still here!
Thanks Sammie for pointing back to those previous posts. After my radical neck dissection in December 2004, I had lypmhoedema next to my neck scars...a sort of huge bulbous blimpy thing! That went away, but this one on my face turned up in May this year. My Onc/surgeon was going to give me a contact through the hospital, but being the type of guy he is (very busy, well respected), I haven't heard from him. Our Cancer Council here in Sydney has given me some contacts, and I will see someone soon...when I can find space in between work (being self-employed, time is not always your own), visiting "my friend (!)" the dentist, etc.
Cheers and thanks!
Tizz

He zapped me (I wore goggles) on the left side of my face, it felt like bee stings. It helped a bit, plus I had rosacea. Maybe google it as I have a hard time explaining things. Thanks and God Bless!! Carol

She said "You have marks on you". I told her I had cancer, etc. and she was very taken aback and sorry, .....So I guess the lazer didn't work any miracles on me!!! SMILE!!!! If you don't have anything nice to say, DON'T say anything at all!!!!!I try to live by those words! Have a great day Tizz! Carol

Laser treatment is used to promote healing. Many physical therapists in the U.S. use it and based on different light intensities, it is used to increase blood flow, reduce inflamation, etc. It used primarily to reduce pain.
