The most spicy foods were very uncomfortable for me until about 8 months post treatment. The fool I am, though, I kept trying. I would have a froggy voice for a day or so and pain over night. Now, I can eat the spiciest and have no ill effects. I stay away from habenero only.
I have not been able to juice much since radiation because it burns my throat. I used to juice almost daily and have not been able to tolerate it. I made some cucumber/onion/vinegar stuff the other day and the vinegar fried my throat for 3 days.
If you look in your mouth do you see any brown or yellowish stuff on your tongue or throat? I battled thrush for a long time and I always could see it when my tongue and throat hurt the worst. I could not eat much of anything when it was hurting.

Now I understand why babies make those faces with new foods. My mouth puckered like I was eating a lemon. We'll wait a while before retrying that one.....
Though radiation to my neck stopped in May, I try a sip of alcohol now and then. It tastes and feels like that 200% firewater from Mexico - you know, the stuff that smells like nail polish remover.
And I can't count the number of times I've dribbled water down the front of me. Anyone else have this problem, or am I just revisting childhood in additional ways?

I must have been a mouth breather because I remember waking up as you describe. Before I learned to sleep with my mouth closed, I used those things, the name of which I cannot remember, and they helped quite a bit to let me get more air in through my nose. You know, those things sold for snorers. A cheap fix for a big problem. | | |
