The nerve that goes to my lower right lip was cut during surgery, so that half of my lower lip is numb all the way down that side of my chin also. For the past two months or so I have had daily episodes of my chin and bottom lip getting the most intense, DEEP itch. That's the only way I can think to describe it, DEEP. I feel like it's down deep inside but of course itching that area does nothing as I have no feeling there. I have to wait for it to go away. It's not painful, I can't explain what it is, lol. I also have alot of tingling there lately. Does anyone else get this?

Minnie. This is happening to me as well.I asked my surgeon about it. He said that it is the nerves looking for each other.Tho it ia a good sign, he doubts that I will ever regain any feeling there. He has had patients that this has happened to before. It drives me nuts, lol, for you cannot itch it for you cannot feel it. Your surgery was done in April, mine was done in Feb. DId they also do a skin graff for the flap? If so, is that area healing okay? Mine is taking forever. About the time it looks like it might be, a little white pimple pops up and starts another sore. Also while I have you on here, my legs and feet are swelling so bad, they cannot figure out why. Neither can I. So bad that it hurts to walk. I am on liquids only, via a feeding tube. So he just put me on Lasix, so far they haven't went down. If I elevate them they will go down, but the minute I am up and walking around therr they go, swelling up again, I am beginning to think it is something else all together...I pray that it is not what I am thinking..Any fed back on this?? Thank you for listening...Vicki Lynn

Hi Vicki,
I kind of figured it was silly of me to hope that maybe I would get some type of feeling back in that area. Oh well, I'm pretty used to it now I guess.
When they removed my jaw they replaced it with the small bone from my leg, used muscle, etc to rebuild my gum. My doctor calls it a live transplant, told me it would "become" my new jaw. And that is what has happened. I healed quite well after surgery Vicki, but it was also my first surgery. About 2 and a half weeks out from surgery I was eating many regular foods.......of course radiation took care of that a few weeks later! I haven't had any problems with my legs other then after surgery the most pain I had was in the leg that they took the bone from. The leg they took the bone from gets tired very easily and I can't stand on it for a long time before it gets tired and aches.
Sorry I'm not much help. Did you have chemo?? I didn't have any chemo so that may make a difference.
Take care,
Minnie
