Filing for 2005 will be our first that we will have medical expenses to include and I just want to make sure I have all the information/costs together before we visit the CPA. Ken is self-employed (but has been unable to work since June 30, 2005 because of surgeries/treatments, etc), so we have a lot of business information to gather as well. Just wondering if anyone has any advice they would like to share. Of course I understand this is personal advice and not professional tax advice. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks!
Carol R - caregiver to hubby Ken. Stage 4, SCC, BOT. 6/05 dx, 9/25/05 last tx, 5/06 stroke. Four years cancer free! Still taking things 1 day at a time.

My CCC is 62 miles away, and the mileage allowance for travel to and from medical appointments turned out to be a significant deduction.

And the cost of whatever medical/dental insurance for the family. Drugs for everyone. Home companion or nursing care if any. Medical supplies or equipment used. There is a government publication on the IRS web site. I forget the number. It is quite detailed. Hope that helps.
Take care, Eileen

Once you're on the site, click on "Forms and Publications" and look for Publication 502. Cathy
