Congrats! My mom finished last Thursday. Now we just wait until it is time for the scans - which won't happen until early/mid October.

Great news ladies. Not to be the bearer of bad news which I try so hard not to do on here for obvious reasons but the time after treatment is over can be real tough. I know it was for me. Good luck to both moms.

That is good news, Donna and Amy! - hope things continue to improve. If the next few weeks post Tx are tough, tho' - which they can be for some, just knowing what to expect and that it does get better can be very encouraging. For my son, right after Tx ended were the worst for him, but just as others had said to me, when the 3rd week started, there was a definite improvement and everything got progressively better from that point on.

Billy-
You mentioned that after treatment iit was tough-may I ask, what did you mean? The last two days have been vrey hard on mom, today especially as she cried much of the day. very depressed, I don't think she evens know s that is what is wrong with her. I hear her calling me now. If I leave for any length of time and my father isn't with her she turns into a mess.
Thanks for your help.
Donna

Donna,
Hi. I found that my mom was quite depressed for the last week - since her treatments ended. She started to come around yesterday, but that was really the first day. We have been letting her sleep as much as she wants, and hopefully next week she will be moving around a bit more. If I don't think she is better I will ask one of the many doctors we are slated to see next week for some more meds or something to help. If I had to guess I would think that it is now the fear of the unknown for my mom. It will be about 2 months before they do her scans, and as strange as this would sound, I think she at least felt like she was "working" to get better by going to treatments, and now she feels there is nothing for her to do to help the process. This, of course, is not true, because just walking up and down the street or around the house a bit more would be a huge help to getting her strenght back. My mom has become incredibly dependent and not very mobile. My sister, who also helps to care for her, does not help in this regard and lets my mom just sit around, which I know is not good. I am at a loss and just hope that she snaps out of it. She is on Zoloft as well as Atavan, which she takes regularly. Hopefully your mom will start to feel better soon. I will let you know if I hear of any "tricks" or "secrets" to help through this time.

Amy
