Ok ..Sorry I havent been on my computer crashed. Anyhow I had my Ct on sat and it has been determined that it is my submandibular gland about 9 mm in size. Not worst case scenario but not best case either. I still havent spoken to my surgeon over it yet , I got the results cus the radiologist felt bad and didnt want to make me wait the holiday weekend. However in all actuallity it ended up being because I had an allergic reaction to the dye when I went back to see the RAD he sent me to the ER . They treated it and then the ER dr was able to read the report. so now waiting to find out what next ..I think it is going to be the excissional BIopsy ..anyone have one of those and know how it is done ?

Hey Sharlee, I too have an enlarged gland on one side confirmed by CT. My GP wasn't the least bit concerned with it, probably because it's not his neck. Anyhow, I had that scan sent to an oral surgeon and am now waiting for his response. So now I'm raising my coffee cup, here's to good lumps in our necks.

Hi Sharlee
Rob had an excisonal biopsy done on his tongue under general anaesthetic. He went into hospital as a day case and it involved removing the lump, stitching him up and sending the tissue to the pathology department for examination and diagnosis.I do know that Brenfran had her biopsy of a neck lump done with local anaesthetic in the outpatient department .Whichever they do i wish you good luck

Hi Sharlee,
I had a surgical biospy of one lypmh node in my neck. Took about half hour. By the time I woke up from anethesia, dr had results, obviously not good. Same day procedure. No problems. Here's hoping yours is negative.

Take care,

The problem is now gettin him to biopsy ..I am hearing through the grapevine ( what a way right !) that he has no concern of it ..You can visibly see it and the cat scan shows enlargement. My GP talked to my Surg..and someone from the GP office called and told me the Surgeon isnt concerned with any type of reccurance....the problem is there are other things that can obvisouly be wrong !! There could be a blockage or an infection causing this as well as the cancer ..I mean come on any one who knows me KNOWS I have done MY RESEARCH !!! Is cancer a concern for me? OF COURSE IT IS !!! But even so I know whole heartedly it could be somthing else as well and still needs treatment, because some of these other things can cause some problems such as Stones and such ..SO why arent we checking into this some how. ANd if any person of the street had a Lymph 1cm in size for 7 weeks with no infection ( or signs of) the drs would show concern and check into it ...Now why when I have a history of Head & Neck cancer Are we ignoring it ? Not to mention MANY people have had scans and shown no tumors in the gland and come to find out the glands are hiding the tumors. AND tUMORS in the submandibular gland are more likley to be cancerous and malignant then those found in the parotid gland ( in which I dont have anymore) There are no guarentees with out a biopsy and some one needs to do somthing here ...even if I am being paranoid ..they need to find a way to reassure me . As I stated I know that It very well may not be cancer , but I also know somthing isnt right !
