I am trying to determine if it's the diet (nutritional shakes), dehydration, not eating enough or...
A nutritionist said that drinking boost or pro balance quickly can cause it.
e.g. I slept a long time till about 6 p.m yesterday. I woke up had one ensure like shake, 2 cups tea, another shake, 2 cups water. I usually drink the liquids fairly quickly as it's easier to get them down.
Around 1 am started having strong cramping with normal stool first, then diarrhea and then nausea and vomited a little, mostly the shake. It's as if the diarrhea and nausea occur together. I was not nauseated before the diarrhea happened.

I had the same experience as you. The shakes can give you nausea and diarrhea. I stopped having symptoms once i stopped drinking the shakes. good luck. Try drinking them a bit slow that might help you. it helped me.

Worst expereience in my life (well maybe - the cancer Tx kind of sucked but I have put most of that behind me). Actually had to have a Mexican doctor make a house call to our luxury hotel in Cancun. He was good though and cheap compared to American doctors - 50 bucks for the house call and that included the penicillin shots.
Watch out for that tea - it can dehydrate you. Drink lots of water - 2-3 liters/day.
I couldn't handle Boost at all, just the chalky texture of it in my mouth made me want to vomit. I switched to Carnation Instant breakfast, which was milk based and had a lot better luck.
