Joined: May 2003 Posts: 33 | I haven't been on in awhile, just been real busy and I was never one to publicly post on any site, just a little shy I guess. But I got some bad news two nights ago. My mother Donna, has two blood clots on her lungs, and just yesterday afternoon they found one in her leg, so needless to say I am scared to death, the Dr.'s say they are not life threatening but I just do not understand how blood clots on your lungs are not life threatening. She is on blood thinner and they say that they should just disolve, but I don't know, I am just so worried about this. For thoughs of you who know who I am you know it will be a year on Febuary 22nd that my dad Packer66 has been gone, so to now have to deal with this so close to that date is just heart wrenching. My mothers dad my grandfather had blood clots in his leg back in 1987 and had to have his leg removed, so this brings all that back up now. I apologize for venting on here plus the fact I have not been on for a good while, but I know there are alot of understanding and good people here.I know this is not cancer related but if anyone has any info they can share with me I would greatly appreciate it. It is so good to hear from you. You are often in my prayers as I know you miss your dad. My mom had blood clots last year at age 65. One in the lung and one in the leg. They were not sure where they came from. She had shoulder surgery earlier in the year and has rheumatoid arthritis which kept her pretty confined to a lounging chair. Anyway, she was on blood thinners and the clots went away w/o any real problems except that she had to really take it easy for a while. Sounds like your mom is going thru a similar thing. I will keep you both in my prayers and hopefully soon she will be well again.

Joined: May 2003 Posts: 33 | Thank you both very much. I feel better about all of this now. My mom is on coomadin, ( not sure if I spelled it correct or not) and she is on a heprin drip. She will take the coomadin for at least 6 months. Debbie, I do miss my dad very much, I still have my good days and my bad days, but I guess I always will. Thank you both again.

Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,606 Likes: 2 | I am sorry to hear of the challenges your family is facing and I am hoping a praying for the doctors to do exactly what your mom needs to rid her of the blood clots.
There are some reasons for blood clots that could be considered hereditary but generally they are not necessarily hereditary.
It is good to see you around again. I have thought of you often and hope everything else in your life is going as good as you want it.

I was so ready to start a new year without anyone dying and without being sad, well that has not happened for me, I have this problem with my mom, and now my uncle, and it being a month that my dad will be gone a year. Sorry to hear the latest news about your uncle. My favorite uncle's wife was killed on Thanksgiving from a drug-crazed irresponsible young man running from a traffic stop. It does seem at times that the next heartbreaker is just around the corner.
Someone once (or many people many times) told me that God only gives us what we can handle. I have asked Him many times if He is absolutely sure...
