Hi Rosie,

I have been accepting pledges in different amounts. I have been using the donation envelopes
provided by Brian last Dec. I had quite a few of them. I have been having my sponsers mail the checks to the Oral Cancer Foundation with a notation it's for the Cancer Walk, April 9th.

Marcee and I are flying to Virginia beach on April 6th, Wed and returning Sunday the 10th.

I think everyone coming should make there own reservations as close to the park as possible.

I don't really have a good idea as of yet how many are coming.

Look forward to seeing everyone who attends.

Danny Boy

Hi Danny Boy, I am looking forward to the Walk and meeting you and your wife. I will check into places to stay, as far as I know, it will be myself, my husband, daughter and possibly son, don't want to leave him home alone, (18 and Party time)if you know what I mean! SMILE! I have four checks so far, all made out to Oral Cancer and many more pledges. My sister in law sells cosmetics and she is holding a party and is planning on donating all proceeds to Oral Cancer in my Honor and I feel soooo incredibly loved and Blessed. My sister works for a bank and they are sponsoring me, too. Have a great weekend!
Love,
Carol

My husband Dan has completed his treatment!!!!! Last radiation was this past Tuesday, and last chemo the previous week. Now we began the road to recovery, so I'm sure I'll be asking many questions again! My first is this.......how long is the walk in VA? We would love to come to this, I'm not 100% yet, depending on how Dan feels, but perhaps one of our adult children could join us in VA and stay with Dan while I finish the walk???? We would like Dan to at least take a few steps to prove he is indeed a survivor, and I would finish on his behalf. If Dan can travel that distance by then, I'm curious on the distance of the walk.....beginning to end, as I would like to complete the entire walk, and hopefully raising some $$$$'s to help out! Thanks for any info, and also thanks sooooo much for all the help and support you folks have provided. I am very proud to be part of this forum!

With my sincere thanks,
Michelle G.

Hello Michelle,

There is no set distance you have to walk. Just being there will uplift many people. Being so close post treatment I can understand his endurance will be low. We hope to have as many members of the Oral Cancer Foundation there as possible. We are a team and your both part of it.
Hoping you can make it. Hoping your husbands treatment continues to be a success.

Best Wishes, Danny Boy

Carol,

I didn't get too far yet on the hotel information, but I did fid the following.

1. I don't like www.hotels.com. I thought their site left a lot to be desired.

2. On www.mapquest.com, you can get a map of the area and a list of hotels nearby. Some of the ones listed that were within 3 miles of the park were Super 8, Red Roof, Days Inn, Marriott, Comfort Suites, Fairfield Inn, Hilton.

3. On www.yahoo.com, you can get prices, distances and reviews on hotels. For example, I found that 2 of the EconoLodges had decent prices and good reviews and rooms ranged from the low $40's to the low $60's. They were 7 - 9 miles from the park. The Days Inn @ Military Circle also had good reviews, was 7 m. away and had rooms in the mid-high $50's.

I'm sure there are other good sites out there and I haven't even started looking at Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity or other travel discount sites yet. So do a little browsing. It shouldn't be too hard to find something reasonable priced and reasonably close to the park. By the way, the park is actually in Chesapeake, not Virginia Beach. So use Chesapeake if you want to be near the park - Virginia Beach if you want to be nearer the ocean.

Good luck,
Rosie

Hey guys,
You don't want to stay on Military Highway. Plug in Greenbrier Parkway in Chesapeake, that is the nicest area and right down the street from the park. I think Danny has the links still that I sent him.....................Danny??? Where are you all staying?
