I use a combination of nystatin suspension, swish with 5 ml for one minute and swallow TID for 7 days and diflucan 150 mg tablets once a day for ten days in my patients. This seems to put the run to thrush or "candida". Grapefruit and grapefruit seed are great as long as they don't interfere with other meds. Grapefruit in all forms is famous for affecting the desired clinical results of many meds.
You can also reduce the fungus and help your meds by usig a tongue scraper to remove the whitish patches on your cheeks, and tongue. Do not try and scrape any white patches in your throat. Be gentle but thorough. After each pass with the tongue scraper rinse it off in running water and the swish it in a salt water solution. During thrush outbreaks stay away from alcohol and alcohol containing mouth rinses. Use one that does not contain alcohol. Alcohol dries out the tissues and help support fungal growth.
I hope this is helpful to some. Smoking also helps support fungal growth.
Lolita: just quit already...It'll do you a world of good.
Cheers,
Mike

Limit your eating of sweets and starches and rinse and brush after EVERY meal or treat. Beyond that Nystatin worked well for me.

I had to take about 60 of them. It did the job. Diflucan works better but its hard on the liver and I have hep C. I could never stand the taste or after taste of Nystatin so I was very happy to pour it down the sink. Besides Diflucan is much more effective. I wouldn't mess around with home remedies - thrush can be fatal if it goes systemic.

Diflucan depends on your liver. So if you have or may have liver problems/disfunction diflucan is not for you.

Gary has more businesses going than I can count, (FDA consulting and more) and he still finds time to do a night job in music. How he works service to others into a schedule like his boggles the mind... then I got to looking at the time stamp on most of his posts. The man doesn't sleep.
Me, I have a new laptop and wireless system in my home so here it is in the dark hours with small numbers - with the wife asleep next to me, typing away in bed. But while we are some of the old timers around here, I see Jerry is approaching 1000 posts, after a long days of drill, fill, and bill.... and those are not just the wish you well kinda posts, but solid Doctor based info. Dr. Mike, for his short time with us is now one of the many regulars.
At this time of thanks, and in the spirit of the season of goodwill, I wish to thank all of the posters that have chosen to say around after their own personal needs have been taken care of - to be in service to others. There is nothing more noble in my mind than to help ease the pain of another. You are all a group of extraordinary men and women.

If you do a search (click on the "search" feature, top of this page) for "muscle spasms" you will see lots of good information on what others have done to get some relief. If you have additional questions, you could start your own topic so others can respond directly to your concerns. It's good you've been slowing down on the cigarettes. Maybe if you keep your fingers busy on this site, they will have less time to reach for the "cancer sticks".

But, the white spots would not go away! One day I went to my main oncologist and he said that the white spots looked more like radiation changes. So, the next time I went to my RO, I asked him to do a culture of my throat. Sure enough, it came back negative for yeast/fungus! I was taking all those medications for nothing. Moral of the story,,,have a culture done to make sure you do indeed have the fungus. Good luck to you!
