I always had dental problems as a child and periodic bouts with periodontal disease but I sought out a competent dentist (over 20 years ago) he assured me that I could keep all of my teeth. I lost #13 (pre-Tx) when it cracked down into the root but all of the rest are fine. The dental oncologist at the CCC where I was treated was definitely old school. ALWAYS get a second opinion. I would have been toothless if I listened to that turkey - so the moral of the story is you can't always trust even a dental oncologist. I went with my gut instinct and I also had any and all repairs, cleaning and trays made prior to starting Tx. I also did much research and got second opinions.
