Joined: May 2002 Posts: 2,152 | Diflucan is a prescription drug. No it is not an antibiotic. It is something you need to take everytime you are put on an antibiotic because you will get thrush again if you don't take it.

Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 45 | The saliva creates a balance in the mouth of natural flora. So having a lack of saliva means the balance is disrupted. Also, thrush thrives on sugars and creamy things ie: Ensure, Fortisip, Custard etc. So all the things we eat to maintain our weight basicaly! Typical!

Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 58 | I too have mouth sores especially under my tongue on both side of my mouth. I have noticed that when I eat something especially sweet I feel like my tongue and lower lip swell. I went to my Ear eye and nose specialist, and he told me I would have to live with it and prescribed Maalox:Benadryl:Viscour Lidocaine. I took it one time and my entire mouth went numb including the back of my throat. If what I have is thrush how do you treat it? I would appreciate any suggestions.

I also get sores under my tongue and on the sides, takes forever for them to heal. I often wonder if I have thrush but I don't see any visible signs of it.
SCC Left Mandible. Jaw replaced with bone from leg. Neck disection, 37 radiation treatments. Recurrence 8-28-07, stage 2, tongue. One third of tongue removed 10-4-07. 5-23-08 chemo started for tumor behind swallowing passage, Our good friend and much loved OCF member Minnie has been lost to the disease (RIP 10-29-08). We will all miss her greatly.
