I suffered from acute mucositis during the course of radiation but could manage with pain killers and local aneasthetics.

ENSURE drink with milk helped me maintain my body weight though I did loose a few kilos.

I drank sips of water at frequent intervals as the cells need to be hydrated to recover.

My oncologist recommended a oral mouth rinse that had its clinical trial here at U of L it was called Cuprident and I think their website is www.cuprident.com it helped a great deal with mouth sores (of course I dont know how bad it would have been without it) but I was able to eat throughout radiation.

I actually still use it because it also helps gingivitis. Every little bit helps :-)
