I was someone that was on clonazapam (the generic) and I found it effective and did not have issues when time came to discontinue it. I was not taking it daily, but as needed for episodes of anxiety that would produce rapid heartbeat and shortness of breath. (Amazing what the mind can produce as physical symptoms of anxiety.) One 1 Mg tablet would put things in order, and I did not have to take it daily. All benzodiazepams have the potential to be both physically and psychologically addictive. Too rapid a withdrawal from any of them can create the very effect that they are prescribed to overcome, anxiety. One of the most prescribed drugs in this family is of course Valium (diazepam)...which the Stones referred to as "mothers little helper"
