Red of face, I am here to report that I now have a feeding tube and getting it was no big deal, principally because I cannot remember a single thing after the IV was begun. What a lot of energy I wasted on that subject.

Brian, I think it would be a great idea to have a category just for this. The very nice nurses, and the surgeon too, all said everyone who is referred for one is a basket case.

Although I wish I only posed reasonable questions on this forum, it was exceedingly nice of you to take the time to calm my stupid terrors.

And now the tip. I also met with a plastic surgeon today who commented twice that it was a pleasure to have an educated patient. So let that spur every patient and family member on to get as much information as you can. When a doctor thinks you understand what he/she is saying, they will be much more forthcoming about answering questions and volunteering information.

Fear of the unknown is not a "stupid terror", on the contrary it is probably one of the universal human traits.... Don't think for a moment that my calm replies today, reflect a calmness 3 years ago when I was going to get mine put in.
