Am I crazy to wonder if my husband's tongue-biting IN HIS SLEEP could indicate some growth that wasn't previously there? He has been awakened recently (about 5 times) because he bit his tongue hard enough to make it bleed! It always happens on the same side of his mouth. He has been a smoker all his life and is now 53. Have any of you ever heard of such a "symptom"?

I haven't heard of tongue biting being a symptom, but I do grind my teeth and was scared to sleep when I couldn't use my bite guard post op. Numb tongue + teeth grinding is scary. I would have him call his dentist.
