Diagnosed May 2002 with Stage IV tongue cancer, two lymph nodes positive. Surgery to remove 1/2 tongue, neck dissection, 35 radiation treatments. 11/2007, diagnosed with cancer of soft palate, surgery 12/14/07, jaw split. 3/24/10, cancer on tongue behind flap, need petscan, surgery scheduled 4/16/10

C'mon, I am no Job - I still have my children and husband, and I am not even covered with boils! but I know what you mean. We all have times like this, I know, but knowing that does not make them easier to handle. I think the reason I am doing as well as I am - not falling apart as yet - is that a part of my brain refuses to take this all in.
Ed, I am glad your news turned out to be non-news - but really, the oncologist could have taken the time to check your file first!! How is your blood pressure?

I would like to point out, though, that Job didn't have cancer, let alone two different types! You project a very positive attitude for someone going thru what you are. Being a caregiver can be as rough as having the cancer. We tend to vent at the ones closest to us.
I am sorry to hear of your Fathers condition. I hope his final journey is peaceful and pain free.
Congratulations to your Daughter. May it be a long and happy marriage!!!
Candace, I have taken the attitude "What Will Be, Will Be" I can control some of what happens to me but I can't worry about what I can't control. I may sound brave but deep within me I'm as scared as the next guy!!
Having this forum to hopefully ease the path for those behind me gives me a sense of helping.

I'm back home with a long row of staples across my tummy, not able to cry because it hurts as much as laughing. My father died on tuesday, same day as my operation, and there is no way I can make it to the funeral - very difficult.
But life goes on. They got it all out, and no other treatment seems to be necessary, which is a relief.

This is the very thing that all of us are dreading to hear. Everytime we walk into a there is a new bump, sore, throbing or we go to the Doctor for out scan results.
