Well, I guess it's time for me to face the music so to speak.

17 year old male, started dipping about 2 years ago. Right now I'm scared out of my mind that I might have oral cancer.

Here's my symptoms-

1.on the very edge of my inner lip there is this little white ridge thing. never seen it before or anything but sure enough it's there now. Not sore to the touch, easily noticeable in the mirror or with my tounge.

2. Other side, almost same spot there is a little bump with a very small white dot on the top.

3. gums are kind of white, for as long as I remember they've been like this, both top and bottom gums. I'll admit I have horrible oral hygene. It goes down like maybe 1 cm maybe even 1/2 not very much but it's very distinct from the rest of my gums.

I don't really have the piercing ear pain, my ears ring, but they've always done that on and off.

I'm going to a dentist Monday, going to try to go in tomorrow since I'm so scared. I took all my cans and threw them out and just broke down and cry. I can't beleive my whole life might be over due to just trying to fit in with the baseball team.

Is mouth cancer pretty survivable? If they have to do surgery will I be eating out of a tube the rest of my life or what. I'm so scared right now it's not even funny.

Anything, anyone, please.

You may just have the first step in all this, which is really not a cancer yet called leukoplakia. It is a common development in spit tobacco users. It can be taken off with a laser. If left alone it is known to be able to transform into malignant cells occasionally. Sometimes if it is caught early and a person quits the use to spit tobacco, it may resolve on its own, so your doctor may want to watch it for awhile before sending you to an oral surgeon to have it lasered off......this is if this is what it is. No one over the web can tell you what you have, and you need that trained set of eyes that has seen oral cancers before to give you an opinion if you need to have it evaluated further by doing a simple biopsy. Quitting in the long run may be the most important decision you've made to date in your life. In the meantime don't beat yourself up and worry too much until you get that professional opinion. As to your oral hygiene, I suspect you
