#2333 04-19-2004 07:23 AM | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 18 Member | OP Member Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 18 | I wanted to share with you all that my concerns about my treatment has urged me to call my doctor for a referral to our local cancer center,she wont be back in her office till tomorrow,but the secretary said she would pass the info on to her,so hopefully,I will get into see the oncologist be the end of the week.Thank you for allowing me to share my fears and for helping me make the decision for another opinion to hopefully ease some of my fears,this is my life and I have to know I am doing all I can to beat this nightmare..my cancer was SCC T1 tongue,had surgery only | | |

Even my oncologist has suggested getting a second opinion from another cancer center if I didn't get satisfactory results from the one he's connected with.
You have to be comfortable with your treatment during all this, or the worry will make you crazier than the cancer itself will

SCC Tongue, stage IV diagnosed Sept, 2002, 1st radical neck dissection left side in Sept, followed by RAD/Chemo. Discovered spread to right side nodes March 2003, second radical neck dissection April, followed by more RAD/Chemo.

You do whatever it takes to feel comfortable with your level of knowledge and the treatment you are receiving. When my mother was terminally ill with ovarian cancer there were even times I emailed pictures from a digital camera to the head of GYN Oncology and we pre-admitted her to avoid the 7 hours in the emergenc room. Find the path that gives you peace of mind.
