Years ago I would sometimes hang out here to see if I had information to offer someone new. The few times this happened I would then watch the conversation to see if they wanted to know more. I was able to find the thread using the Active Threads feature, but once there i saw no way to jump to the first unread message. So I'd scroll though the threads to figure this out, and after while I just gave up trying.

So here's my question. If I go to a thread is there a way I can jump the the first unread message in that thread?

Squamous cell carcinoma base of tongue. Lymph involvement unclear; staging placed at "2 or 3." Biopsy 4/18/2008. Treatment: IMRT every day for 7 weeks. Cisplaten once a week to sensitize cancer to radiation. Treatment ended 7/16/08. PET/CT shows no more cancer.

Hi Andrew!

What I see on the forum varies from what regular members see. Im not the most technical person so please excuse my limited ability to explain high tech type things. As anyone in their 50s, 60s or 70s knows, todays younger people have been born with a cell phone in their hand while older people may struggle trying to keep up with the rapid changes of technology. Hopefully one of the suggestions below will help make this easier for you to keep track of certain posts.

With the most recent forum upgrade, at first there seemed to be alot of big changes. But after using it for a couple days, I noticed the changes were mainly just in appearance. I still am able to view new posts as I always have by the posts being highlighted with 3 dots on the left by the title. When I pull up each section I see a tiny blue mark for any new items. This may not work so well for the occasional user especially when theres alot going on and many posts on different threads every day.

If you click on your name (most members have this set to their upper right of any page), the drop down window will open. Start on the first tab preferences and go thru to customize your forum user options.

Another option is if you pull up a thread with multiple pages towards the top left you should see a thread options tab. Click on that and you should have a drop down menu where you can change the view you have by clicking on Switch to Threaded Mode.

Pulling up a thread you would like to watch there should be a small bookmark icon on the upper left of the title bars where you should see previous tab and the title of the thread. Bookmarking this allows easy access to the posts you want to follow.

Hope this helps, good luck!!!

Thanks for jumping in. It looks like the three dots are for seeing which forums are unread, but not a way to jump to the latest message. However I think I might have found what I asked about. After poking around a bit I noticed a tiny icon next to a message, that at first looks like a paper tag icon. Looking closer I can see it's a curved arrow. I mouse over it and it seems to be what I'm looking for. I'll have to test it out.

Phew!!! Im very glad you have figured it out!!! I really did try. Im very sorry my reply wasnt an exact solution for what you were trying to do.

I apologize that I have limited technical knowledge. I partially blame my shortcomings regarding technology on my message board view being different than what other members have. Being an Admin, I have more functions, arrows, icons and drop down menus to do whatever behind the scenes tasks Im responsible for.

With upgrades and any serious functionality issues, OCF has an awesome web person who can navigate the forum with his eyes closed.

Thanks for posting your update smile

No need to apologize. We're all in this together.
