Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 23 | Just wondering if anyone else had other areas where the scan lit up, and if they ended up being another cancer.
CG of husband,50, history of smoking
BOT HPV+ and one node
diagnosed 11/14
8 chemo and 36 radiation treatments
2016 40 HBO dives, removal of two teeth
one year scan clear

SCC Stage IV, BOT, T2N2bM0
Cisplatin/5FU x 3, 40 days radiation
Diagnosis 07/21/03 tx completed 10/08/03
Post Radiation Lower Motor Neuron Syndrome 3/08.

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 | A PET scan can light up for many reasons besides cancer. There could be an inflammation causing the false positive reading. Ive had it happen to me as have several others here.

Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,293 Likes: 1 | I had a spot show up on PET in the lung on the initial scan. It was still there after treatment but did disappear after the 6 month scan so it was probably an infection of some sort, not cancer.
