We should treat our mouths with diligence, more than we ever did before in our lives before treatments. But even that will not guarantee that some teeth could be lost. And if you chase it like I have, having some teeth crowned three times in 10 years as cervical line caries develop again and again as my soft tissue recedes, you can count on this being very expensive. I have been in the dental industry most of my adult life so I have resources most do not to get things like this done, that keep the costs down.
There is no magic show at Tufts. They have oral medicine specialists attached to the dental school like most dental schools do. There are about 400 of them in the entire US, most are attached to teaching institutions and both teach and see patients. But they understand some of these post-treatment and pre-treatment issues better than even oncologists do. When it comes to some things, I trust their training more than I do my ENT who also follows me.
