Thank you so much for the advice. He's told his Mom and Dad that he doesn't want them to visit until he's home...not sure why, but I'll go with it. I'm also taking the advice of one day at a time. My Aunt has offered to come and stay at a hotel for the first couple of days, I will take her up on that offer. My uncle passed away from this disease in his 70's. She knows what I'm going through and she is extremely helpful and resourceful.

You are very lucky to have an aunt who has been down this road before there to give you and your husband a hand. Sounds to me like you are handling everything very well.

Having your parents in law come after your husband is home is probably a very good plan. That makes more sense than having them upset by seeing him in bad shape. you may want to give your husband a few days at home to settle in before he has them come. Give him a chance to get back on his feet a little bit. Im sure he wouldnt want his parents to worry.

When is the big surgery? If your husband is able to eat, have him eat as much as possible now. Its not a bad idea to attempt to gain a few pounds before the surgery.
