Hi. I don't post on here very often but I check in here almost daily since John was diagnosed 5 years ago. I can't believe that 5 years ago this month we started on this journey. Life is better than ever and John and I both feel so blessed to be living each day to the fullest. We watched our baby girl get married 9-14-12 to her high school sweetheart and boyfriend of 12 years and our son will be getting married 9-12-14 to an amazing girl. John's cancer diagnosis brought us closer together as a couple and for that I am so grateful.

John tends to keep things to himself and not tell me about "issues" until he thinks there is something to "bother" me with. This has always been a problem between us but I do know why he does it. John went to the family doctor last week without telling me because he has been having unusual chest pain. The doctor did an EKG which was normal and checked him out. His BP was normal. He gave John a script for blood work and a chest x-ray. He told John if things didn't resolve to get the chest x-ray done. This has been going on for the past month so John is going tomorrow to get the x-ray.

The doctor also told John not to be too concerned because the type of cancer John had if it comes back goes to the original site and not the lungs. (me rolling my eyes)

I don't know a lot about recurrence when patients are this far out of treatments but I assume it can go to the lungs?

John hasn't had a CT or PET Scan since June, 2011. Praying this is nothing and will keep you updated. Thanks for listening.

Hi, Wanda,

I know how hard this is! Try not to get ahead of yourself right now. Relax and take a few deep breaths. Keep busy this weekend so you can chase away the worries. There isn't a lot you can do until you know what is going on. And remember, it could be nothing, or it could be something that's unrelated to cancer. If you need a shoulder, call me. It's good that you posted. You have a lot of friends here who understand.

Best

Yay, it worked. One clue. Do not use any punctuation other than commas and periods. Also, no dashes, I LOVE my dashes, too.

We have heard from the software developer, and they believe that we will have an upgrade in our hands in about 1-2 weeks. So assuming that they get the bug fix right, we should be able to put this irritating bit of software malfunction behind us for good.

The board ran fine for years until the standard for server software made a major technological leap that enabled them to run faster. Many programs were slow to upgrade to meet the new server protocol standards. They ran the risk of becoming dinosaurs if they didn't do the work. Smaller less well funded companies, took the longest to respond to the industry standard change.

Wanda, I know this is scary.
He could well have angina. This often does not show on an ECG, or on a blood test. To really diagnose " coronary insufficiency " or a lack of blood supplying the coronary muscles, he may well need an Exercise tolerance test. Does he get these chest pains with any exertion? Do they go away with rest?
I'm not saying that this is the cause of his chest pains but it sure could be, rather than any tumours in the lungs. Just another possibility.
Do try not to borrow.............from tomorrow.
Thinking of you,
Tammy

Wanda, you never know what it is. After going thru OC you just never know. Its always better to get things checked out to be sure of what you are dealing with. The xray may not show what the issue is so dont be surprised if more tests are scheduled. Dont let John ignore this, keep looking until you find out what is going on.

Hope it turns out to be nothing serious. Best wishes with everything!

Well the blood work and chest x-ray were normal. John said he might call the Radiation Oncologist tomorrow and see what he thinks and if he wants him to get a CT Scan. John said it really isn't "pain" but more "discomfort". He hasn't had any CT Scans or PET Scans since June 2011. He really doesn't want any more radiation in his body.
