I couldn't agree more with the CCC recommendations. Iam a nurse and husband to Lee who has Stage IV base of tongue/epiglottis SCC.
You need to be somewhere where tumor boards meet and discuss your case regularly and where these diagnoses are an everyday occurrence. We treat at Univ of Penna and had second opinions at Sloan-Kettering. Lee had a total glossectomy and partial laryngectomy and is very sick right now, but we couldn't be in better hands. God Bless

Caregiver to husband Lee-Stage IV SCC base of tongue/epiglottis. Had total glossectomy/partial laryngectomy/ radical neck dissec 4/05 followed by chemo and rad.
