Three weeks is still early, maybe you see some improvement with the mucus, but most feel better at 3 months, other sides effects longer, up to a year or more. Erbitux side effects can last a few months after treatment, as well as radiation still working just as long as your treatment lasted, which have acute toxicities, less than 3 months, and long term side effects, longer than 3 months. Are you still taking the antibiotics for the rash? Mine was Minocycline. Still follow the same proper oral care you did during treatment.

Good luck.

Hi Calhoun:
I'm kinda new to the In Treatment forum, so just read your thread to familiarize with all you have gone through. It looks like it's been quite a journey so far, with a few potholes along the way.

But reading yours has given me new reasons to continue choking down the food as best I can even if it is only Ensure and no other food. Likewise maintain the water consumption.

I'm a little jealous you are so close to finishing the rads, I still have 15 more to do.

Take care, looking forward to reading about you in Post Treatment forum.

05/14 taste the same, dry sinuses, irrigation helps.
01/15 food taste about 60% returned, dry sinuses are worse in winter.
12/20 no more sinus problems, taste pretty good

Congrats on finishing the rads/chemo Calhoun!

I have been following your thread with interest, as I started my Tx a bit after yours. I am afraid I do not have any helpful input on the rash as I am not familiar with chemo at all. However, just wanted to say that I hope things start improving fast. I have bumped into the oncology head nurse in my hospital today who said, which I think can be applied to a lot of us :" It will get worse before it starts getting better once the TX is done. But it will start getting better pretty soon".

Take care and best of luck!

Thanks Ambra. When my Tx was done I was feeling fine and thought, ok everything is healing slowly. Not so bad. Well after the first week, the rash returned more sores in my mouth and perhaps the thrush has returned. I even have burns on the back of my neck which came after Tx. I guess it really never ends. Oh well, I'll just take what comes. I hope your doing well with your journey. Hang in there.
