Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 3,267 Likes: 4 | I went to my new primary doctor, who gave me a prescription for clindomycin for a two minute visit, and cost me $34 by taxi, and said If not better, to see my dentist to have it drained before surgery. I don't have a dentist, and just seeing the oral surgeon at the cancer center about my teeth, which is unresolved, and don't know their extent of my care being I have no dental with mediscam. Anyway, I'll see about making an appointment next week. Tomorrow I'll see my local oncologist who I can count on more.

Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 3,267 Likes: 4 | Thankfully my infection, abscess, is clearing from the antibiotics, salt rinses, but still have to take them for two more weeks. Basically I'm eating soft foods, due to teeth missing, and down to gum line, but also I don't want to cause irritation, and reinfection, which this last one was caused by chewing on tender porterhouse steak, med rare, and the one prior was from the flatbread with the falafel. Bought new soft toothbrushes too not to reinfect.

1/2013 lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma found
5/2013 1st round chemo stopped due to hole in hard palate.
6/2013 SCC found in maxillary sinus/hard palate.
7/2013 Removed tumor from palate + neck dissection T3NO.
Has palatal obturator. Both smokers. Both want to quit. Will be done with 35 rounds of radiation + chemo + erbitux by October 10. Hemoglobin count up from 3 to 13! Lymphoma under control
