I am having white patches in my right tongue. I visited hospital nearly almost after two months of such tongue appearance and did HIV test which showed negative results. I too did Biopsy the results was just a keratosis. But i fear it is leukoplakia. I was provided with clotrimizole thinking it might be fungal (candidasis) But after biospsy the doctor suggested me a steroids like prednesilone for a a week. The white patches seems gone for few days but still little different seems my tongue. I was then asked to stop and medication and i was provided with oral mouth wash. I was told to visit after a month. But during this periods i saw increase in white patches in my mouth. well till today i guess it is almost 4 months i have this. But sometime when I sleep well and eat well, drink much water and relax myself with less stress. the White patches seems gone by little. But I fear it might lead me to a leukoplakia. My white patches can me removed off by brushing. But still it reappears. What should i do now. I am thinking to undergo again some test like Biospsy to sure the lesions has not developed to leukoplakia or others. What other test you suggest me.? TO add on to your more information. I have a habit of chewing check and lips often when m lost and in stress. And i to brush little hard my tongue sometimes. Please help me out more.

In the US we have Ear Nose and Throat doctors, ENT's, that specialize in those areas. IN the US I would tell you to see an ENT.

It could be one or a comination of things. There is fractional keratosis, caused by friction, injury, but this and leukoplakia can't be rubbed off. Leukoplakia, is often confused with thrush, which can be rubbed off. It can also be lichen Plantus, Thrush is treated with anifungals. Leukoplakia also does not mean that it will always transform to cancer. But can 1-20% of the time, up to a span span of years, up to 30 years. As David suggested, see an ENT. Good luck.
