Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | He sure got lucky if this is true. Having no jaw or teeth is terrible. Must include not much of a tongue either. I would like to know how many times my thriat was opened for work they did ib my throat. It feels like a railroad storge yard for cars with so many scars under my chin. LOL Wish the hell they would move some freight out and get rid of some rails. Kelly is one lucky guy to not need any the fun treatments.

I was in Buffalo last week, I asked around about Jim Kelly. I was told he went to ECMC, but had a team of Doctor's from Roswell Cancer Center operate on him. ECMC has become the state of the art trauma center. What I was told they had equipment Roswell didn't have that's why the team of Doctor's went there to operate on him.
I hope you feel better soon you haven't been around here much.

Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 33 | I hope Jim will use his popularity to generate awareness on oral cancer and HPV. Michael Douglas has done videos and I believe helped to get the word out. There needs to be more research done. Hopefully Jim will make it through this and can become a spokesman for the cause. We will be praying for him.

4 of the nodes removed had cancer. 2 had extra capsular spread.

Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 3,267 Likes: 4 | OCF was quoted in a few newspaper articles regarding oral cancer along with this announcement. Jim Kelly's surgery is not possible, at the moment, and will undergo Chemoradiation instead at Lenox Hill Hospital, possibly surgery in the future, if needed.
