Had the biopsy for ulcer on floor of mouth ten days ago. Have kept ringing them and nothing. Finally today the lady said the results were there on the 3rd but im not medically trained and the consultants secretary is away till tomorrow. This week has been a total emotional nightmare. So tomorrow after taking my little boy to school and dropping my partner to work i will come back here and call. The consultant said it would be at least a week. My father said no news good news and he has bowel cancer so has been through lots of tests. The consultant knows that i suffer badly with anxiety so i hope he would have got the secretary to call me yesterday if i have cancer. Any thoughts?

It is up to the individual dr. Usually, my experience is - they prefer not to allow the secretary to give out bad news. They want you to come in. Good news is okay and they will allow the secretary to tell you over the phone.

Often when the results are not good, the dr. wants to talk to you face to face, and then discuss a course of treatment.

Now this does not mean anything in terms of your dr. etc... this is just our protocol here. I would NOT wait any longer. If the results are back and they aren't giving them to you over the phone, then your GP may have a copy, you can call them. Or request a quick visit ASAP... be polite but tell them how amazingly anxious you are.

hugs and best of luck. I sincerely hope it's nothing.

I go to the place of testing to get all my scan results, and everything else at the hospitals. like fnab, punch or excisional niopsy, surget reports, after a few days being its a large hospital either in the pathology, medical records or ENT dept. I have no problem reading them, and cope with any news, no choice. My private local oncologist, makes you come in for them good or bad. Receptionist won't release them until you have a follow-up visit. Good luck.

I waited forever (appx 2 weeks) to get my ENT's FNA bio results. His nurse finally called and said his holiness wants to see you tomorrow at 3. Knowing his office closed at 2 I was sure he was not planning a party to give me good news! lol

Hey dave... you never know... maybe he just really liked you and wanted to spend some quality time with you...? hugs... If you ask me the wait is far too long. I have said this on the forum before. My dog had a lump on his ribs last year. I asked the vet - should it be there.. They said no - I said remove it. (I didn't bother with a biopsy just wanted it gone) Anyway he went in on a tuesday had it removed, I got a call wednesday afternoon. It was a low grade insitu cancerous tumor! I told them I loved them and asked if I ever had to have a biopsy done would they do it for me... seriously... I once had the results of my pooch's a FNA in - not kidding - 12 hrs.

There is something seriously wrong with that...
but it's great for the mutt. ;o)
