To help with learned food aversions as a result of nausea, vomiting or metallic taste associated with chemo or radiation, a strong flavored "scapegoat" is used, like root beer or coconut candy, chocolate or strong drink before treatment. The food aversion will likely be for the scapegoat then, and not the food eaten earlier before treatment. Certain foods have more aversions than others like meat, fish, and carbs, vegetables less, and it is best to stick with foods that are known than it is to experiment with new foods.
