I only see a citation to the second paragraph. Actually, I like that one because now I can say that only one couple was found to have this happen as reported in a 2008 Oncology Journal and they both were diagnosed at the same time. and give that citation.
It ties in well with the one couple found here by an OCF member.

What Klo did teach me the hard way was the devil was in the details. I want to read the footnotes that are listed as "proof" since they often turn out to statistically non significant or otherwise flawed studies.

I also liked Dr. Gillison's remark in your other post
This is not to say that "oral sex causes cancer" by any stretch of the imagination," Dr. Maura L. Gillison emphasized
since the newspapers skip that warning and think that all HPV infections lead to oral cancer.
Thanks

Back to you again, once I started in with Medscape to read Paul's article, here are some good numbers for you. Only 10% of men have HPV infections in one study.
Among 5501 participants, the prevalence of oral HPV infection was 6.9% overall (3.7% for high-risk HPV types, 1.0% for HPV-16). Prevalence showed a bimodal pattern by age, with a small peak for individuals aged 30 to 34 and a larger peak for those aged 60 to 64. The rate was higher for men than for women (10.1% vs. 3.6%; P<0.001), and for participants who reported ever having had sex than for those who reported having had no sexual activity (7.5% vs. 0.9%; P<0.001). In multivariate analyses, risk for oral HPV infection was associated with age, gender, lifetime number of sexual partners, and current smoking (including intensity).
So again, I do not think you are at risk nor need to worry about this issue. No point in locking the barn door now.
Even the studies Paul and I bandied about do not deal with someone who already has cancer and now is worried about future HPV contacts. The majority of HPV oral cancer patients do not have recurrences, it's just seems that way from us in the recurrence club staying on OCF when everyone else moves on in their lives. As they should. I would if I could

Nice work Charm in analyzing the abstracts or whatever they are. I often go to the footnotes that are mentioned in the paragraph, only to find they don't really discuss what is referred to see. Maybe a as small note like the couple, but others often just mentioned risk, increased risk, and that's it, Fuzzy math, I guess. On another note, some adults, who don't have the virus are getting the HPV prophylactic vaccine.
