So my mouth is pretty much back to normal. I only use the magic mouth wash to brush my teeth. Can anyone recommend a toothpaste that doesn't irritate your mouth?
Also- dry mouth. I don't have it as bad as I did and I notice when I chew gum it's barely an issue but besides the humidifier at night anything else I can do to help me get through the night?
I've also noticed my teeth are WICKED sensitive to sugar. I can't chew anything sugary. Going to the dentist soon just want a reprieve from being in pain. Did anyone else have a sensitivity to sugar post radiation?

Biotene has a great toothpaste and a great gum for DM. I have found Walmart to be the least expensive for both products, especially the gum which I chew almost every waking hour and especially during the day when I constantly meet with clients requiring me to talk a lot.

Sensodyne - highly recommended by my husband's dentist.

Drink plenty of liquids, before meals, before bed, throughout the day. I use biotene dry mouth products too, use a soft tooth brush, even a baby one or sponge type. Sugar free hard citric candy, gum, drinking lemon water produces more saliva, as well as smelling lemons. Taping mouth closed with medical tape before sleeping may prevent moisture loss during the night, check with dr. Caffeine, alcohol drys the mouth, even in mouthwash, so avoid those. You may want to see the dentist if sugar is bothering the teeth episodically, which sounds like cavities or demineralization of the teeth. Good luck.

Biotene has a new toothpaste called, "Biotene Sensitive", for sensitive teeth & cavity protection, with the complete dry mouth protection. I picked up a sample box, and will try it out.

Yep, biotene,both regular and sensitive, plus senosyde have been recommended here for over 4 years. Here is a link to one of DonB' threads back in 2008 that had interesting questions on drymouth, toothpaste. Interesting to me, anyway to see how advice changes or stays the same over the years here from posters

Paul, I have been using Biotene toothpaste & mouth wash since 2005 when they did radiation on my mouth that left me with no saliva glands & a very sensitive tongue back then but I have regained my saliva glands but my mouth is still very sensitive to different things. The Biotene mouthwash doesn't burn when you use it & they also have Biotene gum & other products that you might find helpful. Your Dentist should be able to help you out there

Thanks. You go way back. I use the biotene products..mouthwash, dry mouth toothpaste, did the gum and gel, but just received a free sample the other day of the sensitive, and thought it was new lol. I don't go to the supermarket anymore, so don't know all the products like I did.
