Re: the info on the "primer", good lord what have I started! Your "engine tuning" instructions are quite entertaining, particularly those for us women...you have cracked me up...:) P.S. I reached out tonight by email to the wife of the local couple I referenced earlier, got some info back. I don't know them well, but they heard about my husband, and all things being a small town, reached out to offer support, very nice people. She clarified their situation; he had cancer in '96, hers was in '02. Both non-smokers, only sexual partners each other have ever had. The HPV link wasn't as known back when they were being treated. That said, she's recently gotten curious, will be going back to her records to see if the tumor was HPV tested. To her knowledge, they are the only couple who have both had the same cancer. The only other family ties she's aware of is a mother and son in Georgia.

Everything I've read or heard says that fear of having sex is not based on facts. As DavidCPA's post spelled out, the issue of HPV has lots of unknowns and so can't be characterized as "straightforward". As I tried to make clear in this thread, there is no indication that sex between the caregiver and the patient in a monagamous relationship causes cancer regardless of the HPV status of those two partners. I hope you and Kevin set the sheets on fire forever. Charm

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.
