The Alaska cruise sounds like a great idea. If you're on a ship with a good buffet, you should be able to find lots of good soft food (that will still taste fine before your taste buds go for awhile)!
Also, if you're going soon, you'll be close to the summer solstice with around 20+ hours of daylight each day. It's very invigorating -- you just have to be sure to allow enough time to rest up if you're doing excursions off the ship. The scenery is absolutely unbeatable!
