7/27/11 Cistplatin, taxotere,5FU 2/3week sessions, followed by IMRT 125cgy x 60 (2x daily) w/Erbitux weekly. Last rad 10/26/11. Last Erbitux 10/27/11
PEG placed 9/1/11 Removed 11/8/11
Clear PET 10/12 and 10/13 and ct in 6/14

Julieann Nov 2007 SCC on right tonsil following tonsillectomy. Was smoker, QUIT. (Stage IV T2 N2b) 7 weeks radiation one day/wk chemo (carboplatin and 5-FU). Allergic to Taxol; PEG in, lost 30 lbs. Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 6 | Thanks for sharing. Pain after treatment was perplexing everyone. Had the biopsy and it came out necrotic...no cancer.
Problem is my Dr's don't know what to do now. I will tell them about you
Cancer of Vallecula = Pathology shows HPV
last Radx was on 4/26 total rads 35 & Cisplatin 3x 6 hr session - last one on 5/13 first PET scan post TX June 27th 2012 - Pain cameback early July. 2nd PET scan on Aug 14 showed activity in same original location. Biopsy on Aug 31st

My doctors were considering just leving it alone and keeping me on antibiotics and salt water rinses. They decided to go in and clean it up which involved scraping off the necrotic tissue and filling a dead area with part of my Uvula. I think the cleaning part is helping to speed up the recovery but who knows. I asked the doctor what he thought and he said these things can linger for a long time. He said I could definitly still have painfull ulcers through October.
Under the necrosis is an ulcer so that's where the pain is comming from. I am also back to the magic mouthwash which is helping a lot.
