I got my PEG after 3 wks of radiation and even with it lost a good deal of weight. Once I was feeling better I played golf while having the PEG and I would go to work and at lunch time, lift up my shirt and hang the bag on a nail behind my desk and keep on working. I don't understand those who view it as macho or somehow beneficial to avoid having the PEG. It was a lifesaver for me and very unobtrusive. Once you are ready for it to come out, they just pull it out.
Best of luck with your treatment.

In addition to calories, you need a lot of water, and the PEG makes that easy. Just make sure it is not COLD water, which is more uncomfortable than you can imagine. If you need some pain relief in a hurry, getting the meds via PEG really speeds things up. All in all, a good decision on your part. | | |

I had the PEG before I started the treatment and I did not use it to much for various reasons. However, at the worst of times it was comforting to know I had options and I switched all my meds to liquid and used the tube for that. Good luck on the procedure and keep a watchful eye in case you have issues with stomatitis from the radiation.
