There is a device called a therybyte that is designed to stretch your mouth opening. I had my ENT write a script for one and my insurance covered it. They are around $500.00.
Don't second guess your decision. The healing takes alot of time to get to your new normal. Measure his progress in weeks not days. Write all your questions down ahead of time, as you know you never rememner them all during the appointments. Clear margins are a positive sign. Hoping his recovery goes well and you can put all this behind you one day.

I put them between my teeth and bite down for 10 Seconds, repeat 10 times, 3 times a day. Everyday I add another tounge depressor. It works and it is cheap and easy.
